What is a Deuce in Tennis?

Deuce is the score 40-40. To win the game from deuce, a player must win two consecutive points (the first gives them "advantage", the second wins the game). If the player at advantage loses the next point, the score returns to deuce.

You're serving at 40-30, your opponent wins the next point. The score is now 40-40 — deuce. You need two points in a row to take the game.
